Geoff von Kuhn, former head of Wealth Management at AmSouth Bank in Birmingham, has resurfaced to take the ceo role for the Crosby Group, the single-family office of the Johnson family of Fidelity Investments fame.
von Kuhn, who left AmSouth last fall after the bank’s announced merger with Birmingham, Ala.-based Regions Financial, steps into the Boston-based post tomorrow. The office oversees the family fortune of Ned Johnson and daughter Abigail among additional family members. Johnson’s father, Edward Crosby Johnson II, founded Fidelity in 1946 while Ned launched the SFO.
von Kuhn succeeds Bradley Turner, who left last year. He will be responsible for setting up the family’s overall estate plan as well as running its personal investment portfolio. Abigail and Ned’s individual net worth is estimated at $13 billion and $7.5 billion, respectively. The 33-year banking veteran also served as chairman of AmSouth Investment Services, and previously led Citigroup Private Bank in the U.S. von Kuhn could not be reached and calls to a Fidelity spokesman declined to comment. Crosby Group officials could also not be reached.
